Hellll yes - fresh hop beer.
Let me repeat, fresh hop beer.
Think herb. It taste’s like you’ve been in the desert for a dozen days without water and fell into a field of fresh, cold wet hops. Sure, it’s not going to give you the vitamins and nutrients you need, but damn it feels good – and what feels good should be celebrated.
The Terrapin Beer Co, from Athens, GA, has long been a favorite of mine and never disappoint. Good things come from Athens, like Widespread Panic.
Blurb from the bottle:
“Terrapin’s ‘So Fresh and so Green Green’ is a beer that celebrates the hop! Made with freshly picked, whole leaf, ‘wet hops’ these off the vine beauties will encourage you to drink fresh, drink local and drink now.”
It comes in at a solid Alc./Vol. of 6.6%. Just enough to make sure your aware your spending 6bucks a pint. Although the taste is well worth the price. The smooth taste leads to no hint of a mid-level abv., this calmness definitely starts at the smooth aroma with a leafy nose.
If Terrapin Beer Company was shooting for a true IPA, well then they just failed. It just doesn’t stand up to the IPA’s of today in truest category of taste. Still, not a problem, it’s a true great hop beer that deserve a chance. The art work and name are worth the price alone.
